I'm on a mission to help aging adults build bone and balance for falls and fracture prevention. 

My interest in bone health started when my mother fell and broke her hip in 2012 and again in November 2024. I saw first hand how hip surgery repaired the broken bones. But left my mom fractured. She lost her independence, zest for life and quality of life. 

A certified (200-hour) yoga instructor, I have acquired the most up-to-date, specialized Bone Fitness and Falls Prevention training:

  • BoneFit LEVEL 1 FOUNDATIONS and soon LEVEL IIA ADVANCED EXERCISE (Osteoporosis Canada’s updated program, based on recommendations from 2023 clinical practice guidelines for management of osteoporosis and fracture prevention with safe functional movements, ADL adaptations, and progressive exercise programs).
  • SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life) Leader Training (Strength, balance and fitness program to promote an active lifestyle, improve performance of ADLs, and minimize risk of falls), Marymount University Regional Training Office. 
  • Otago Exercise Program Leader (An evidence-based strength and balance exercise program for preventing falls in older adults), Marymount University Regional Training Office.

 

  • A Matter of Balance Coach (evidence-based, discussion-based group intervention program to help older adults reduce their fear of falling and improve activity levels), Marymount University Regional Training Office.
  • Master Trainer, Urban Poling/Nordic Walking Instructor (exclusive to  DMV offering Urban Poling (nordic walking) and Activator Pole Program (designed for balance and stability support) accredited Instructor courses (for fitness & wellness professionals) and introductory pole walking workshops for older adults.

I'm on my own bone health journey - seeing significant improvement in my own bone density, shifting from post-menopause osteoporosis to current osteopenia in my hip and spine.
